Could your gut bacteria predict cancer treatment success?

NCT ID NCT06181201

Summary

This study aimed to understand if the types of bacteria in a person's gut before starting cancer treatment are linked to how well their rectal cancer responds to that treatment. Researchers planned to analyze stool samples from patients with stage II or III rectal cancer before they began chemotherapy, and possibly radiation, to see if certain gut bacteria profiles were associated with a complete response to therapy. The study was observational, meaning it only measured and observed, without testing any new treatments.
