Dental care may lower blood sugar in diabetics
NCT ID NCT02563457
Summary
This study tested whether treating gum disease (periodontitis) helps improve blood sugar control in people with diabetes. Researchers divided 91 diabetic patients with gum disease into two groups: one received immediate gum treatment, while the other received treatment after the study ended. The goal was to see if the dental treatment reduced hemoglobin A1c levels, a key measure of long-term blood sugar control.
