Gum recession showdown: which surgery wins for healthier smiles?

NCT ID NCT06940050

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study compares two surgical techniques—coronally advanced flap (CAF) and tunneled coronally advanced flap (TCAF)—for covering receding gums in the lower front teeth. Both methods use a small tissue graft from the roof of the mouth to support the gums. The goal is to see which technique provides better root coverage, reduces tooth sensitivity, and improves appearance. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two surgeries and followed for up to 10 years.
