Gum graft may boost implant health: new study

NCT ID NCT06305000

First seen Feb 15, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding a small gum graft (free gingival graft) to standard non-surgical cleaning can improve treatment of peri-implant mucositis, a common inflammatory condition around dental implants. Researchers will compare four groups of 48 adults total, measuring gum health and inflammatory markers over 7 months. The goal is to see if increasing the width of firm, attached gum tissue helps control inflammation better than cleaning alone.
