Blood-Derived gel boosts gum healing in new study
NCT ID NCT07207668
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding a gel made from patients' own blood (injectable platelet-rich fibrin, or i-PRF) to standard gum surgery improves healing. 42 adults with deep gum pockets received flap surgery; half also got i-PRF and a cleaning gel on their tooth roots. Over 6 months, researchers measured pocket depth and gum attachment to see if the extra treatment helped. The goal is to better control gum disease, not cure it.
