Could your own blood help heal gum disease? new study says yes
NCT ID NCT07207668
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tested whether a substance made from a patient's own blood, called injectable platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF), could improve healing after standard gum surgery. 42 adults with advanced gum disease (pockets deeper than 5 mm) took part. Half received the extra i-PRF treatment during surgery. Researchers measured changes in gum pocket depth and attachment over 6 months to see if the new approach worked better than surgery alone.
