Gut-Targeted capsules tested for Veterans' mystery illness

Summary
This study is testing whether taking butyrate capsules, a compound naturally made by gut bacteria, can improve physical function and reduce symptoms in veterans with Gulf War Illness. About 120 veterans aged 40-70 will take either the butyrate supplement or a placebo pill twice daily for 18 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in fatigue, memory, gut health, and overall physical ability to see if the treatment helps.
