First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tested whether a mouthwash made from guava leaf extract works as well as a standard chlorhexidine mouthwash for treating chronic gingivitis (gum inflammation). 160 adults with moderate to severe gum disease used one of the two rinses. Researchers measured plaque buildup, gum inflammation, and bacteria levels to see if the natural alternative could match the standard treatment.
