Cash for change: $500 monthly payments tested to boost mental health and future prospects for black youth
NCT ID NCT05609188
Summary
This study tested whether providing $500 per month in guaranteed income to 300 low-income Black young adults (ages 18-24) could improve their mental health, help them invest in education or job training, and reduce unmet healthcare needs. Participants received payments for 12 months and had access to financial coaching programs. Researchers compared outcomes between those who received payments first versus later to see if the money made a measurable difference in well-being.
