Summary
This study tested whether providing a guaranteed income of $500 per month for one year could improve the lives of low-income Black young adults aged 18-24. Researchers enrolled 300 participants in San Francisco and Oakland to see if the payments helped them invest in education, improve mental health, and access needed healthcare services. All participants were also offered financial coaching and support programs.
