What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
group-based psychological treatments (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy, Mindfulness Meditation)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide effective, low-risk pain management options for older veterans, reducing reliance on medications or procedures.
What could go wrong
This is a mid-sized trial comparing existing therapies, not a new breakthrough. Results may not apply to all pain types or non-veterans, and benefits may be modest.
