Simple hand squeezes may stop deadly clots in hospital patients

NCT ID NCT06370702

First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether doing hand grip exercises can lower the risk of deep vein thrombosis (a serious blood clot) in adult hospital patients who have a PICC line. About 2,500 participants will be asked to perform simple squeezing motions. If effective, this could offer a free, easy way to prevent clots without medication.
