Mind over muscle: brain training may speed shoulder healing

NCT ID NCT07481864

First seen Mar 24, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests whether a brain-based therapy called graded motor imagery can reduce pain and improve shoulder function in the early weeks after massive rotator cuff repair. Thirty-eight adults aged 30 to 65 who had surgery for a specific type of tear will be enrolled. The approach uses mental exercises like recognizing left vs. right shoulders and imagining movements, aiming to retrain the brain while the shoulder is still healing.
