Mind over muscle: mental training may speed shoulder healing

NCT ID NCT07481864

First seen Mar 24, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether graded motor imagery—a series of mental exercises like recognizing left vs. right shoulder images and imagining movements—can reduce pain and improve function early after massive rotator cuff repair. Thirty-eight adults aged 30 to 65 who have had surgery for a specific type of tear will be enrolled. The goal is to see if these safe, non-invasive techniques can help when physical therapy is limited due to surgical protection.
