Summary

This pilot study compares two forms of goji berry powder—whole berry and juice powder—in women aged 40 to 65 who have frequent hot flashes. Participants eat one mug cake made with their assigned powder daily for 30 days and track their symptoms on a smartphone. The study looks at changes in HDL cholesterol function, hot flash burden, and cognitive performance to see which form is more promising for future research.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
goji berry powder (whole and juice forms)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a dietary supplement that eases hot flashes and supports heart and brain health during menopause.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study with only 6 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The effects may be modest or not statistically significant.
