Early combo diabetes drugs may cut death risk in obese patients
NCT ID NCT07465926
First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study looked at over 450,000 adults with obesity and type 2 diabetes who were already taking a GLP-1 or SGLT2 drug. Researchers compared what happened when they added another diabetes medicine early (within 90 days) versus not adding one. The goal was to see if early add-on therapy lowered the risk of death, heart problems, or kidney failure over 3 years. This was an observational study using existing health records, not a controlled experiment.
