Doctors use ultrasound to find safer surgery timing for popular Weight-Loss drugs
NCT ID NCT07360262
Summary
This study aimed to understand how long patients should stop taking GLP-1 drugs (like Ozempic or Wegovy) before surgery to reduce the risk of stomach contents causing complications during anesthesia. Researchers used ultrasound scans right before surgery to measure stomach contents in 186 adults who were taking these drugs. The goal was to gather evidence to create better, personalized safety guidelines for stopping these medications before an operation.
