Artificial intelligence reads brain scans to detect hidden tumor type
NCT ID NCT07673705
First seen Jun 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether an artificial intelligence system called GliomaAI-Oligo can detect a specific type of brain tumor (oligodendroglioma) from routine MRI scans. Researchers will use over 1,300 existing, anonymized scans from multiple hospitals to train and evaluate the AI. No new tests or visits are needed—the goal is to see if the AI can match the accuracy of traditional biopsy-based diagnosis.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- GliomaAI-Oligo (artificial intelligence software)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this AI could help doctors diagnose oligodendroglioma faster and more accurately without invasive biopsies.
- What could go wrong
- The AI is still being tested on existing scans, not in real-time clinical use. It may not perform as well across all hospitals or patient groups.
