Summary

This study tests whether glimepiride, a standard diabetes medication, can reduce the risk of heart-related death, heart transplant, or worsening heart failure in people with type 2 diabetes and chronic heart failure. About 1,484 adults aged 18-80 will receive either glimepiride or a placebo, and researchers will track their heart health over time. The goal is to see if this drug offers added heart protection beyond blood sugar control.
