New glaucoma drug aims to shield eyes from irreversible damage

NCT ID NCT06903156

Summary

This study tested whether a drug called Mexidol could help control primary open-angle glaucoma, a leading cause of irreversible blindness. Researchers compared different doses of the drug against a placebo in 102 patients with moderate to advanced stages of the disease. The main goal was to see if the treatment could slow the progression of vision loss by protecting the optic nerve.
