Summary
This study tests whether placing a collagen sponge soaked with the antibiotic gentamicin inside the chest during heart surgery can prevent wound infections. It involves 142 high-risk patients, such as those over 60 or with diabetes. The sponge is added to standard infection prevention methods to see if it reduces infections and helps the breastbone heal better.
