Scientists hunt for genetic clues behind aortic aneurysms in valve disease patients

NCT ID NCT01194362

First seen Jan 26, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study collected blood and tissue samples from 91 adults with aortic valve disease to look for genetic differences that might explain why some develop dangerous bulges (aneurysms) in the aorta. Researchers compared gene activity in people with two types of valve problems and those without valve disease. The goal was to better understand the disease, not to test a new treatment.
