Scientists hunt for genetic clues behind aortic aneurysms

NCT ID NCT01194362

First seen Jan 26, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study collected blood and tissue samples from 91 adults with aortic valve disease to look for genetic differences that might explain why some develop dangerous bulges in the aorta (aneurysms). Researchers compared three groups: people with bicuspid valves, tricuspid valves, and healthy controls. The goal was to better understand the disease, not to test a treatment.
