Can genetic testing help close the kidney disease gap?

NCT ID NCT04191824

First seen Mar 27, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving people of African ancestry with high blood pressure early access to a genetic test for kidney disease risk (APOL1) helps improve their blood pressure and care. About 6,800 adults were randomly assigned to get the test results right away or later. The goal was to see if knowing your genetic risk leads to better health outcomes and reduces kidney disease disparities.
