Scientists hunt for hidden genetic clues to childhood hearing loss
NCT ID NCT00023036
Summary
This study aimed to find and understand the genetic factors that cause an inner ear malformation known as an enlarged vestibular aqueduct, which is often linked to hearing loss. Researchers enrolled 324 participants, including people with hearing loss and their family members, to collect family histories, perform hearing tests, and analyze DNA. The goal was to identify new genes involved in this condition to improve future diagnosis and understanding.
