Scientists hunt for hidden genetic clues behind childhood hearing loss

NCT ID NCT00023036

Summary

This study aimed to discover the genetic factors that cause an inner ear malformation called an enlarged vestibular aqueduct, which is linked to hearing loss. It enrolled 324 people with hearing loss and their family members to collect DNA, perform hearing tests, and scan the inner ear. The goal was to identify new genes involved, beyond the one already known, to improve future diagnosis and understanding.
