Scientists hunt genetic clues to prevent diabetic blindness

NCT ID NCT02879422

Summary

This study aimed to understand if specific genetic markers are linked to a severe eye complication called proliferative diabetic retinopathy in people with type 2 diabetes. Researchers compared 155 patients with this advanced eye disease to 155 patients without it, looking at their genetic profiles. The goal was to identify genetic factors that might help predict who is at higher risk for vision-threatening complications.
