New gene therapy could end dry mouth misery for cancer survivors

Summary
This study tests a gene therapy (AAV2-hAQP1) for people with long-term dry mouth caused by past radiation for head and neck cancer. The treatment is injected into the saliva glands to help them produce more saliva. The trial involves 276 adults and will measure changes in dry mouth symptoms and saliva flow over 12 months.
