One-Shot gene therapy aims to halt diabetic eye disease
NCT ID NCT07592273
First seen May 20, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026
Summary
This study tests a single gene therapy injection (sura-vec) for people with diabetic retinopathy, a common diabetes complication that can damage the retina and cause vision loss. About 576 adults with moderate-to-severe non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy will receive either the gene therapy or a sham procedure. The goal is to see if the treatment can improve the retina's condition and prevent vision-threatening events over up to 5 years of follow-up.
