Massive new registry aims to crack the code on mysterious gut disorders

NCT ID NCT04506593

First seen Jun 17, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is creating a registry of up to 5,000 patients with various gut movement disorders, such as GERD, gastroparesis, and IBS. Doctors will use standard criteria to make accurate diagnoses and collect patient-reported outcomes. The goal is to improve understanding of these conditions and support future research, not to test a new treatment.

If successful, this registry could help doctors better diagnose and understand GI motility disorders, paving the way for future treatments.

What could go wrong

This is an observational registry, not a treatment trial. It will not directly test any therapy, so benefits for patients are indirect and long-term.
