Surgery breakthrough could free patients from diabetes medications
NCT ID NCT03821636
Summary
This study compares two versions of gastric bypass surgery to see which works better for putting type 2 diabetes into remission in severely obese patients. Researchers will randomly assign 396 participants to receive either a 'long alimentary limb' or 'long biliary limb' version of the surgery. The main goal is to see which approach helps more patients achieve normal blood sugar levels without needing diabetes medications.
