NCT ID NCT07236008

What the study statuses mean

This study's is highlighted.

Recruitment status, easiest to join first

Recruiting now This study
This trial is taking on new participants right now.
Not yet recruiting
Registered, but not yet taking participants.
By invitation only
Not open to general applications. Only people the study team invites can take part.
Paused
Paused for now. It may or may not start again.
Ongoing
Running, but no longer taking on new participants.
Completed
The trial has finished. Results may not be published yet.
Stopped early
Stopped early, before it reached the end. That can be for many reasons, including safety.
Cancelled
Cancelled before anyone took part.

Expanded access (not trials)

Expanded access
Not a trial. This treatment can be requested outside a study, case by case, for people who qualify.
Expanded access (paused)
Not a trial. The treatment can normally be requested outside a study, but is unavailable right now.
Expanded access (ended)
Not a trial. The treatment could once be requested outside a study, but no longer can.
Approved
The treatment has been approved, so it is available normally rather than through this programme.

Summary

This study aims to collect walking data from 150 healthy adults using both wearable sensors and a high-precision motion capture system. The goal is to create a high-quality dataset that can help train computer algorithms to detect walking events more accurately from wearable devices alone. If successful, this could make gait analysis more accessible and reliable outside of specialized labs.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to more accurate and reliable gait analysis using simple wearable devices, making it easier to monitor movement outside the lab.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage data collection study, not a treatment trial. The algorithms developed may not work well in real-world settings or for people with movement disorders.

Inclusion Criteria: * Healthy subjects with no motor impairments that disrupt the walking pattern. * No history of pain in the lower limbs in the past 6 months. * No history of lower limbs injuries/surgeries in the past 6 months. * Language: Dutch and/or English and/or French speakers. * Age 18-65 years old * Subjects must be able to understand the instructions and to answer questions. Additionally, they should be able to; signal pain, fear, discomfort; give inform consent. Exclusion Criteria: * Persons with comorbidity that could hinder the study (e.g.: unstable cardiovascular system disorders, lung disorders, severe osteoporosis). * Individuals with metal implants or skin conditions that would make sensor or marker placement difficult.
