Shocking combo: dry needling plus zaps may ease knots

NCT ID NCT07384247

First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looked at whether combining dry needling (thin needles into muscle knots) with electrical stimulation works better than either treatment alone for pain. Forty healthy adults with painful trigger points in their calf muscles were randomly assigned to one of four groups. Researchers measured pain threshold and muscle activity to compare the treatments.
