First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looked at whether gabapentin, a nerve pain medication, can quickly reduce pain from a herniated disc in the lower back. 144 adults with moderate to severe sciatica were given either gabapentin or a placebo for 3 days, on top of their usual pain treatment. The main goal was to see if gabapentin provided better pain relief within 72 hours.
