First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looked at whether gabapentin, a nerve pain medicine, works better than a placebo (fake pill) for quickly easing severe leg pain caused by a slipped disc. 144 adults with acute sciatica took either gabapentin or a placebo for 3 days, on top of their usual pain treatment. The main goal was to see if pain scores improved more with gabapentin.
