First seen Apr 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 20, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This phase II trial tests a chemotherapy regimen called FULIRI combined with a targeted drug (bevacizumab or cetuximab) as a first treatment for colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver. The goal is to shrink the liver tumors enough so they can be surgically removed or treated with radiation. The study will enroll 24 adults who have not had prior treatment for their liver metastases and will measure how many patients respond to the therapy.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
FULIRI chemotherapy (irinotecan liposome, leucovorin, 5-FU) plus bevacizumab or cetuximab
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could help shrink liver tumors enough to allow surgical removal, potentially improving long-term survival for people with colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 24 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Chemotherapy and targeted drugs can cause serious side effects like infection, bleeding, or organ damage.
