New surgical technique aims to reduce cancer risk in vulvar dysplasia patients

NCT ID NCT05934851

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study compares two surgical methods for treating high-grade vulvar dysplasia, a precancerous condition. One method uses frozen-section analysis during surgery to ensure all abnormal tissue is removed, while the other is the standard wide local excision. The goal is to see if the frozen-section approach lowers the chance of leftover abnormal cells and reduces the need for repeat surgeries. About 112 adults with confirmed high-grade vulvar dysplasia will take part.
