Tiny mouth surgery showdown: which technique heals better?

NCT ID NCT06331325

First seen Jan 25, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study compared two surgical methods for treating a high frenum (a tight band of tissue in the mouth) in 46 healthy adults. One group had a frenotomy (a small cut to release the band), and the other had a frenectomy (removing the band). The researchers measured how often the band grew back and how much pain people felt in the first week. The goal was to see which method works better with fewer problems.
