Simple frailty check may sharpen survival predictions for hip fracture patients

NCT ID NCT07481188

First seen Mar 21, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looks at whether measuring frailty—how strong or weak a person's overall health is—can improve predictions of death within 90 days after hip fracture surgery. Doctors already use a standard risk score, but it doesn't fully capture physical vulnerability. About 200 older adults having hip fracture surgery will have their frailty assessed at the hospital and be followed for 90 days. The goal is to help doctors identify high-risk patients earlier and plan better care.
