Exercise program aims to reverse frailty in seniors
NCT ID NCT02690402
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at whether a personalized physical activity program could help older adults who are frail or at risk of becoming frail. Nearly 1,000 participants aged 65 and older had their strength, thinking skills, and well-being assessed. They then received a custom exercise plan, and were re-evaluated after three months to see if their health improved.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- adapted physical activity
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that tailored exercise programs help older adults stay independent longer and delay the need for nursing home care.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study without a control group, so results may not prove cause and effect. The benefits seen might not apply to all older adults.
