New radiation technique could tame tremors without surgery
NCT ID NCT04727658
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tests a new way to treat hand tremors caused by essential tremor or Parkinson's disease using focused radiation from a linear accelerator, instead of the usual Gamma Knife or brain surgery. The treatment is split into three sessions to protect healthy brain tissue while still stopping the tremor. Nine adults who cannot or do not want surgery are being followed for one year to check for side effects and how well the tremor improves.
