NCT ID NCT02030470
First seen Jan 22, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested a light-based treatment called FOTOSAN® for severe gum disease (periodontitis) in 36 adults aged 40 and older. The goal was to see if adding this photodynamic therapy to standard care could reduce deep gum pockets and infection over 6 months. The treatment uses a special light to kill bacteria in infected gums. Results may help determine if this approach is useful for patients who don't fully respond to standard treatment.
