Slouching students: study links forward head posture to weaker neck muscles and breathing

NCT ID NCT07403422

First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study examined 80 healthy university students aged 18-26 to see how forward head posture relates to neck movement accuracy, muscle endurance, and heart-lung function during tasks that require thinking. Researchers measured how well students could sense neck position, how long they could hold a chin-tuck position, and their breathing and heart rate while doing a cognitive task. The goal was to understand the physical effects of a common posture problem in young adults.
