First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tested whether applying heat to the feet with a hot-water bottle could reduce pain and bloating after gallbladder removal. 82 adults who had laparoscopic surgery were randomly assigned to receive foot heat or standard care. Pain and abdominal distension were measured over 48 hours. The goal was to see if this simple, nurse-led method could improve comfort and speed recovery without medication.
