Flushing technique may boost egg count for IVF patients with low ovarian reserve

NCT ID NCT01329302

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looked at whether flushing fluid through the follicles (follicular flushing) during egg retrieval helps women who produce few eggs get more eggs for IVF or ICSI. 257 women with fewer than 5 mature follicles were randomly assigned to standard egg retrieval or retrieval with flushing. The main goal was to see if flushing increases the number of mature eggs collected and improves embryo quality and pregnancy rates.
