Poop pills may stop deadly infections in pancreatitis patients

NCT ID NCT07464392

First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) can prevent serious infections in people with moderately severe or severe acute pancreatitis. About 150 adults aged 18-75 who are in the later phase of the disease will receive FMT or a placebo through a feeding tube. The goal is to see if FMT lowers the chance of infections like infected pancreatic tissue, pneumonia, or bloodstream infections.
