First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study is following about 4,000 people who have received a fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) to see how well it works over time and if it's safe. FMT involves putting healthy donor stool into a patient's gut to restore good bacteria. The study looks at conditions like severe C. diff infections, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic constipation, and even autism. Researchers will check if symptoms improve at 3 months, 1 year, and 5 years after treatment.
