Deadly double infection: study probes why flu turns fatal for some
NCT ID NCT07330986
Summary
This study looked back at medical records to understand why some critically ill flu patients in intensive care also develop a severe fungal lung infection, which is often deadly. Researchers analyzed data from 542 adult patients across 20 ICUs in China who had severe flu pneumonia. The goal was to identify the risk factors and outcomes for this dangerous combination of infections to help doctors spot and treat it earlier in the future.
