New study aims to catch hidden high cholesterol in families
NCT ID NCT05750667
First seen Feb 09, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tests two new methods to help people with familial hypercholesterolemia (a genetic high cholesterol condition) get their family members screened. About 800 adults from Penn Medicine will be assigned to one of three groups: automated health system messages, a patient navigator from the Family Heart Foundation, or usual care. The goal is to see which approach leads to more family members getting tested and diagnosed.
