First seen Dec 16, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding functional electrical stimulation (FES) to reconstructive hand surgery helps people with tetraplegia regain more arm and hand function. Researchers planned to enroll 15 adults with spinal cord injuries who were already scheduled for hand surgery. The goal was to see if FES could improve muscle strength and motor learning after surgery. The study was terminated early, so results are limited.
